SHOC 2010 Season Update

09-Mar-2010

Training for the 2010 season began on 18th November 2009. Attendances have been good and the players are keen on improving on last years efforts. There have been a number of players who have decided that they will not continue in season 2010. Some have retired, others have found new clubs and several have just found Division 1 too hard. On a positive note, there has been an influx of players who completed year 12 last year. Taylor Angel, Matt Hamilton, Michael Jennings, Jordan Holman, Cain Godin are just a few who have joined SHOCS this year. Mitchell Bosley suffered stress fractures in his back last year and had to sit out of football for 12 months. He has been training strongly and will be an asset to the club. Joe Quigley is returning to Adelaide and we hope to see him wearing the SHOC jumper also.

Craig Tasborski will again captain the side and he will be supported by Chris Flatman and Jarred Shattock. These three have shown terrific leadership over the past 12 months and all are setting an example at training.

SHOCFC again entered the 20/20 football competition run by Happy Valley in February. This year the four teams were Happy Valley, Flinders Park, Imperials and SHOC. Two twenty minutes halves were played under lights on Friday nights in a round robin format culminating in a final. SHOCS managed to defend their title by defeating Flinders Park by 2 goals. This competition has given us an opportunity to see what some of the young players are capable of. Congratulations to Chad Winstanley for winning the award for best on ground in the Grand Final.

The season is fast approaching. Our first game is on April 10th against Henley at Henley. We have a chance to fine tune our game in trials against GAZA on the 20th March and Goodwood Saints on the 27th March. We look forward to the year and are under no illusions as to how tough each week will be.

I hope to see you during the season. Your supported is needed and will be appreciated.
